Werth: ‘I’m proud that Weihegold has been running at top level for many years’

Isabell Werth was the best in the freestyle on music
presented by VriendenLoterij at Jumping Amsterdam. Werth rode a great test and
beat the British Charlotte Dujardin. The mare Weihegold OLD (f. Blue Hors Don
Schufro) received a top score of 90.280% from the judges. Dujardin finished
with the Hanoverian mare Mount St John Freestyle (f. Fidermark) in second place
with a minimum difference of 0.775%. Edward Gal was the best Dutchman and came
third with GLOCK’s Zonik N.O.P. (f. Blue Hors Zack) with a super score of
85.385%.

Top form

Werth: ”I’m very happy with Weihegold, because she’s really
in top form. Five years ago I started with her for the first time at Jumping
Amsterdam. Every year she is doing well in Amsterdam. I am proud that she has
been performing at top level for many years.

Charlotte was breathing in my neck today

”I knew it was possible to finish at the front today.
Charlotte was breathing in my neck, the piaffes and the passages were again
very good. I am very happy with my horse. I hope that I can keep her at this
level for as long as possible and that I keep the competitors on a distance.
It’s still special to ride at Jumping Amsterdam after five years,” says Werth.

A score of more than 90% is really special

“This blessing means a lot to me, because it’s
fantastic how she did it. I stayed ahead of the competition and a score of over
90% is really special. One day I will be defeated by Charlotte or Edward.
“It depends on the shape of the day who wins.

The best trial so far

Dujardin: ”I hoped that Mount St John Freestyle was better
than London and she certainly lived up to that. Yesterday I was angry with
myself when I made a mistake. Today my test from start to finish was the best
so far.

Strong performance

Gal: ”The prize-giving ceremony was difficult for him
today, because he was together with two mares. In the freestyle he felt very good
today, the first part was good with the piaffes and passages. These parts are
really improved compared to last year. I was also happy that we had no mistakes
and the feeling was very good”.
