Besides topsport, the last couple of days Jumping Amsterdam was the ambiance where sport horse medicine was discussed on a high level. Veterinary practitioners from the Netherlands and far over the borders have participated in the 8th edition of the Veterinary Sport Horse Congress. Besides big delegations of Dutch, Belgian and UK veterinarians, Jumping Amsterdam hosted veterinary practitioners from Sweden, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Germany, USA and even Russia. Team vets and treating vets from many of the international riders could follow an interesting program about various topics, from complex lamenesses to stomach ulcers and prepurchase issues in sport horses and two panel discussions on very up to date topics. During one of the panels the veterinary controversies in managing teams up to the London 2012 Olympic Games were discussed.
After two days the organization and 150 international veterinarians can look back at a very successful edition of one of the best sport horse conferences in Europe, held in combination with Jumping Amsterdam 2012.
