Great Britainâs Scott Brash claimed last-to-go victory in a breathtaking jump-off at the fourth leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2019/2020 Western European League in Verona, Italy today.
The atmosphere was electric as so many of the worldâs best battled it out in the 16-horse jump-off in which Irelandâs Darragh Kenny looked to have put the result beyond doubt when racing through the finish with Romeo in 36.06 seconds at the half-way stage.
World no. 1 and defending series champion, Switzerlandâs Steve Guerdat, came close with his 2019 Longines winner Alamo when stopping the clock on 36.19 with just four left to go. But, last of the 16 who made it through to the second-round decider, London Olympic team gold medallist Brash blew them all away with a stunning run from Hello Mâlady who broke the beam in 35.55 seconds to pin Kenny into second and Guerdat into third.
1. Hello M’Lady (Scott Brash) GBR 0/0 35.552. 2. Romeo (Darragh Kenny) IRL 0/0 36.063. 3. Alamo (Steve Guerdat) SUI 0/0 36.19 |
