Jumping Amsterdam looks ahead with world-class sport and new talent

Revamped dressage programme, international show jumping and four days of top-level sport at RAI Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM – From 28 to 31 January 2027, RAI Amsterdam will once again host four days of international dressage and show jumping. Jumping Amsterdam brings the world’s best riders to the Dutch capital for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ presented by VriendenLoterij and the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™. At the same time, the event is firmly looking to the future. Following feedback and input from riders, grooms and visitors, the dressage programme has been revised. With the Grand Prix moving to Thursday evening, the introduction of the new Future Stars class and plenty of room for young talent, the 2027 edition will bring several new elements to the programme. Ticket sales start on 1 October.

Top-level dressage opens Jumping Amsterdam

Jumping Amsterdam 2027 gets underway with top-level sport from the very first evening. The Grand Prix of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ presented by VriendenLoterij moves from Friday to Thursday evening, giving dressage a prominent place on the opening night and allowing more visitors to follow the international combinations from their first appearance in Amsterdam.

The change also gives the World Cup riders more time to prepare for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ presented by VriendenLoterij Freestyle to Music on Saturday, traditionally one of the sporting highlights of the weekend.

The change reflects Jumping Amsterdam’s approach to developing its programme together with the people at the heart of the event. Feedback and input from riders, grooms, visitors and other stakeholders are taken into account when decisions are made about both the sporting programme and the event itself.

“We want to keep looking at how we can improve the programme, both from a sporting perspective and for our visitors,” says board member Willemina van der Goes-Petter. “By moving the Grand Prix to Thursday evening, we give more visitors the opportunity to see this competition live, while at the same time creating more time for riders and horses to prepare for the World Cup on Saturday. It is a positive change for both sides.”

Friday puts the future in the spotlight

On Friday, the next generation takes centre stage. Young riders will have their opportunity to compete in both dressage and show jumping, with U25 classes in both disciplines. With the introduction of the new Future Stars class, Jumping Amsterdam will also offer a glimpse of the potential Grand Prix horses of the future.

Future Stars will feature talented horses that are making their way towards the highest level of the sport. A number of World Cup riders will have the opportunity to bring an additional promising horse to Amsterdam alongside their World Cup horse. For these horses, it is a chance to gain valuable experience in the main arena at RAI Amsterdam and perform in the setting of a major international event. For spectators, it offers a rare opportunity to see potential future Grand Prix horses at an early stage of their careers.

“On Friday, we are deliberately putting the future of our sport in the spotlight,” says Irene Verheul, Director of Jumping Amsterdam. “With U25 dressage, U25 show jumping and Future Stars, we are giving young riders and talented horses the stage. We have the world’s best riders here, but we also want to show who and what is coming next. How great would it be to say in a few years’ time: I already saw that rider or that horse in Amsterdam.”

International show jumping from Friday to Sunday

From Friday onwards, the international show jumping elite will also take over the arena. For three days, speed, technique and clear rounds will be at the heart of a programme featuring riders and horses from the very top of the international sport.

Following one of Saturday evening’s highlights, the Anemone Horse Trucks Grand Prix of Amsterdam presented by Stephex, the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ traditionally takes centre stage on Sunday afternoon.

Packed stands, tension until the final combination and a crowd that responds to every clear round make it one of the defining moments of the weekend. The sport in the arena is of the highest international level, with valuable World Cup points towards the Final, which will be held in Europe this season, at stake for the riders.

The bond at the heart of the sport

World-class sport and new talent come together in the story that Jumping Amsterdam will place at the heart of its 2027 edition: the unique bond between horse and human.

That bond is different for every combination, but it forms the foundation of the sport at every level. It can be seen in a World Cup combination that has performed together for years, in a talented horse gaining its first experience in the main arena at RAI Amsterdam and in a young horse lover attending the children’s morning.

During the 2027 edition, Jumping Amsterdam aims to bring these different worlds closer together, both in the arena and beyond.

Amsterdam remains Amsterdam

After 65 editions, Jumping Amsterdam is about more than what happens in the arena. Packed stands, a lively shopping area, food and hospitality and the famous Amsterdam evenings turn RAI Amsterdam into a meeting place for four days, bringing together sports fans, riders, entrepreneurs and visitors who come just as much for the atmosphere.

In a year in which the horse takes centre stage, Jumping Amsterdam will also strengthen its connection with the city. Horses and Amsterdam share a history that goes far beyond four days of top-level sport at RAI Amsterdam. In the run-up to the 2027 edition, that connection will be highlighted in several ways.

Top-level sport comes first, with entertainment and Amsterdam unmistakably surrounding it.
