BART VEEZE: ‘IT’S A MEGA PLUS THAT NERO HIS WALK IS SO GOOD’
Bart Veeze made a deep impression tonight in the final of the Subli Cup for four-year-olds with Nero. The son of Ferguson also impressed the judges, because with the mega score of 93,600% Veeze and Nero wrote the final on their name. Femke de Laat came second with Nashville SW (by Secret) with 92,000%. Charissa Buurmeijer came in third with No Limit (by Geniaal) with 84,400%.
Bonus points
Bart Veeze is very happy with his test. ”It went well. When I entered the ring he was very excited. He was really focused then. I know that he won’t do anything weird then and that it will be fine during the course of the test. He did make himself very beautiful because of this. In the course of the test he became more and more relaxed. He is a very down to earth and honest horse. Of course, he got mega points. For the walk we even got a ten. He does this really abnormally well. We can easily get bonus points for this. That he walks so well is really a mega plus.”
‘Jumping Amsterdam is very instructive for him’.
Bart and Nero have not been a combination for very long. ”I have Nero in my stable for over a year. In the summer we rode the selections for the Subli Cup. Last year I also started him at the World Cup in the class for four-year-olds. It is good for him to compete regularly. Then he also gets the routine. Such a competition as Jumping Amsterdam is very instructive for him. We will only benefit from this later when he is older. The judge commented that he has to learn to deal with applause.”
Travel buddy needed
”In handling, Nero is also a very sweet and easy horse. He doesn’t like being alone on the truck and traveling alone so I brought another horse to keep him company.”
Main goal: World Championships Young Dressage Horses
Bart already has plans for 2023 with the gelding. ”Nero qualified for the Pavo Cup through the WK selection. The World Championship Young Dressage Horses is the main goal for him this year. I think he is a very good horse for this. We will also pick up some selections for the Subli Cup in the five-year-olds.”
