Aura Vasama: ‘Eowyn Has Everything It Takes to Win’

Aura Vasama claimed victory just now in the Anemone Horse Trucks Prize. Competing in the U25 1.40m class against the clock, the Finnish rider relied on the nine-year-old mare Eowyn de Goedereede Z (by Elvis ter Putte). The pair delivered a faultless round and recorded the winning time of 60.45 seconds.

Danielsson and De Boer

Swedish rider Ebba Danielsson gave it her all with the 10-year-old Holsteiner Catjing (by Casall) but fell 1.12 seconds short of Vasama’s time. Wesley de Boer finished in third place with the 10-year-old KWPN mare Kaphira (by Corland). The pair kept all the rails up in the course against the clock and completed a faultless round in 61.72 seconds.

‘She jumped fantastically’

“It went really well,” said Aura Vasama. “Eowyn jumped fantastically! She’s naturally a fast horse, so that gives you a real chance to win. She has everything it takes to be a winner. This was my third time competing at Jumping Amsterdam. I’ve competed in the U25 here before and last year in the 5-star classes.”

‘I look forward to the future with her’

Aura Vasama has been riding the nine-year-old daughter of Elvis ter Putte for six months now. “Things keep getting better and better. I’m really looking forward to the future with her. I hope to compete in 3*-Nations Cups in the senior division this year and to jump with her at 1.50m and 1.55m classes.”

Favorite event

Aura is full of praise for Jumping Amsterdam. “It’s an amazing event with a fantastic atmosphere. It’s one of my favorite competitions.”
