Amber Hage: ‘I Never dreamed I’d win the Prix St. Georges’
Amber Hage and Mercurius ACM have added another remarkable victory to their record. This evening, they claimed the top spot in the highly competitive Small Tour at Jumping Amsterdam. Thamar Zweistra with Hexagon’s Mr Magnum and Renate van Uytert with In Style were left in their wake.
As a four-year-old, Mercurius ACM had already won the Subli Cup. The Dream Boy son was a Pavo Cup and World Championship finalist and became the KNHS ZZ-Licht indoor champion with Amber Hage. Now, with a score of 71.274%, they achieved this convincing victory against the impressive 5-star backdrop of Jumping Amsterdam.
Split rankings
Second place (with 70.098%) went to a pair that Mercurius and Amber Hage have often competed against. Thamar Zweistra and Hexagon’s Mr Magnum (by Expression) received mixed placements from the judges (4th, 6th, and 2nd), as did the eventual third-place duo, Renate van Uytert and the KWPN stallion In Style (by Eye Catcher). They averaged 70.00% and were placed 5th, 1st, and 4th by the respective judges.
De Vries impresses in fourth
Kris de Vries earned an impressive fourth place in this strong field with Lexington (by Dark Pleasure), scoring 69.853%. They were followed by Adelinde Cornelissen and Luqiedo (by Aqiedo) with 69.608%, and Hans Peter Minderhoud with Glock’s Massimo (by Glock’s Toto Jr) at 69.265%.
‘He never lets me down’
Amber shared, “During the test, he gave me 100%, and I was so happy with him. The trot work was the best it’s ever been. He felt fantastic. In the canter, he could’ve stayed a little more engaged from behind, but overall, he was wonderful. Walking the course went smoothly, but in the warm-up ring, he got a bit nervous and even broke his noseband. However, once we were in the ring, he was completely focused. He never lets me down.”
‘Phenomenal to ride here’
“I never dared to dream of winning against such names. Just being able to ride here was phenomenal, and this outcome was beyond my expectations. It’s truly amazing! I want to keep training him toward the highest level and see how far we can go. We bred and own him ourselves, so we’re going to enjoy him to the fullest!”
