Mirre Sterenberg wins 1.10m: ‘A dream come true’
Mirre Sterenberg claimed victory just now in the Aeres MBO Barneveld Prize. In the 1.10m class, she delivered a fantastic clear round with the 12-year-old Ivy’s Hope (by Arlando). Her time of 28.59 seconds was more than enough to secure the win.
Tough competition
The young rider from Groningen faced some high-level competition. Mienie Vos, riding the 8-year-old Hastkullens Fantazie (by Falaise de Muze), made an attempt to surpass Mirre but fell just short. The 14-year-old, who competed at last year’s European Championships for Children in Kronenberg, finished second with a time of 29.23 seconds. Cindy Kosse completed the top three with the 7-year-old mare KSH Hero d’Itoo Z (by Harley VDL), riding a faultless jump-off in 30.19 seconds.
Fast horse
“It went really well, and I had a great ride,” said Mirre Sterenberg. “In the first round, I already had the fastest time of the field. Ivy’s Hope is a very fast horse, so the chances of winning are always higher. I rode the lines exactly as I planned. At the selection event in Exloo, we finished second, which earned us our ticket to Jumping Amsterdam.”
‘Ivy’s Hope always gets me to the finish’
Mirre Sterenberg has plenty of experience herself (she was the 2022 Groningen champion in the pony division), but her horse is also a seasoned competitor. “Ivy’s Hope had already competed at 1.20m with another rider, and my sister also rode her. Ivy’s Hope always gets me to the finish line, and that’s such a great feeling. I hope to compete in many more shows with her at the 1.20m level.”
‘Such a great experience’
“I think it’s amazing to ride at Jumping Amsterdam. This is my first time here. It’s so different from Exloo, but it’s a really fantastic experience. I’ve always dreamed of competing here, so this is truly a dream come true.”
