JULIEN EPAILLARD: ‘I WON BECAUSE OF THE SUPER DISTANCE TO THE LAST OXER’
Julien Epaillard was the best at Jumping Amsterdam tonight with Dubai du Cedre (by Baloubet du Rouet) in the Heineken 0.0 Prize, a 1.45m over two phases. The Frenchman raced to the fastest time of 23.09 seconds. Emanuele Gaudiano fell in the prizes again. He finished second with Chaccobeto (by Chacco-Blue). The combination was only 0.13 seconds slower than Epaillard. Sanne Thijssen provided the best Dutch result and came third with Clarima (by Clarimo). The pair finished clear in 23.56 seconds.
‘This is my first win with her’
Julien Epaillard is often present in award ceremonies. But with this victory, the Frenchman was extra happy. ”This is my first victory with her. I had a super distance to the last oxer. Because of that, I won. When I crossed the finish line, I saw that we were faster.”
‘She is a very good mare’
“Dubai du Cedre I have not been riding for so long. She is a very good mare who is very eager. I’m riding her tomorrow in the Grand Prix. That will be the first time we start 1.60m. I hope she does well again.”
‘I always try to win’
The Frenchman has an explanation for why he wins so many classes. ”I have some super good horses. I always try to win, sometimes I succeed and other times I don’t. Every time I learn from it when my horses make a mistake.”
”Everything is perfect at Jumping Amsterdam”
”Jumping Amsterdam is a very nice competition. The organization arranges everything super for the horses and riders. The atmosphere is great. Everything is perfect. We have very good sport here.”
