DANIEL DEUSSER: ‘BINGO IS A REAL FIGHTER, HE WANTS TO WIN’

Daniel Deusser was arrow-fast in the jump-off with Bingo Ste Hermelle (by Number One d’Iso) last night in the Telegraph Prize and rode to the winning time of 41.81 seconds. He thus beat his compatriot Hans-Dieter Dreher in the 1.50m with Elysium (by Zirocco Blue), who at that point had been in the lead for a long time. Deusser was a whopping 2.22 seconds faster than Dreher. Third was Eduardo Alvarez Aznar with Bentley de Sury (by Sunday de Riverland). He rode the jump-off clear in 44.60 seconds.

‘In the jump-off I had a few very short turns’

Daniel Deusser did not have a perfect start, but the rest of his jump-off went smoothly. ”Fortunately, I was allowed to ride the jump-off as the second-to-last. The other riders rode in the jump-off from obstacle 1 to 2 one gallop jump less than me. Because of that I didn’t have a perfect start, but from obstacle 2 to the end everything went very smoothly. I could ride forward distances everywhere for the rest of the course. Bingo Ste Hermelle is very fast, both in the turn and on the jump. In the jump-off I had a few very short turns and at the end I was almost three seconds faster than Hans-Dieter Dreher.”

‘Bingo is a real fighter’

”I have already won many competitions with him at 1.50m and 1.60m level. He is very smart in the course and a real fighter. He wants to win.”

”I’m starting Bingo and Tobago in Den Bosch”

”I am in the luxury position of having three horses for the highest level with Bingo Ste Hermelle, Tobago Z and Killer Queen. Killer Queen is in America at the moment. I still want to ride her in Wellington in February. If all the horses stay healthy, I hope to win many more competitions. I plan to participate in The Dutch Masters. I will ride Bingo and Tobago then also in Den Bosch.”
